CAAAV Organizing Asian Communities was founded in 1986 as one of the first pan-Asian organizations in the U.S. utilizing grassroots organizing and coalition building to unite Asian communities against anti-Asian violence. Our work shifted from campaigns against anti-Asian violence to reflect our analysis of systemic and institutional racism, sexism, and poverty and their impact on Asian communities. We organize youth, Chinatown rent-stabilized tenants and pan-Asian immigrants at Queensbridge Houses.
